Biography
Tifton Graves, tenor is a native of Steubenville Ohio. He attended Youngstown State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance. Graves went on to earn his Master’s degree in vocal performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has performed a number of operatic roles such as Federico in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz, Dr. Blind in Die Fledemaus, Monostatos in The Magic Flute, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, The Chaplain in Dialogues des Carmelites, Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro, the Podesta in La Finta Giardiniera, the Defendant in Trial by Jury, Pedrillo in Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, Lindoro in the Italian Girl in Algiers, and Captain Fitzbattleaze in Utopia Limited. Tifton has also performed the role of Peter in the Cincinnati Opera's production of Francesca Zambello's setting of the Gershwin's Porgy & Bess. Dayton Opera as the Parpignol in La Boheme, Nelson/Crabman in Porgy & Bess, and Emporer Altoum in Turandot.
Graves taught voice and directed the opera program at Wilberforce University from 2006-2014 and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Voice at the University of Dayton, voice instructor at Stivers School for the Arts and teaches private voice lessons in the Dayton, OH area.
